Pre-Season Friendly

Comments from Head Coach John Dunleavy following our first Pre-Season friendly.

Last weekend was our 1st hit out after a bit of a mixed preseason preparation, with the numbers being really positive at training with some  new signings.

Unfortunately we have picked up 2 injuries during preseason to New Club Captain Corey Imperato & Back five forward Ryan Gardner both out with leg injuries for at least 6 weeks, which certainly put a dent into the plans to face the big challenge of newly promoted Division 2 team St Albans.

We took a squad of 27 with 3 players dropping out on the day, really positive numbers, playing 4, 20s it was always going to be tough gaining good continuity & cohesion with the interchanges, but the point of the game was to get some serious physical time in the legs & bodies.

As expected the game it self was a good hard physical contest exactly what we needed, you could see the importance of playing these games with the Buns more game ready after soaking up some good sustained pressure from us there D forced a few errors we're they punished us by scoring some decent turn over tries early doors.

It took us while to click but  last 30 mins was probably our best spell scoring some really good tries from deep in our own half forwards & backs combining well.

Big Weldone to our lads our 1st hit out was positive against a very good Buns team that had already played a 7s tournament and a tough away game v Machen.

Big thanks to our old friends Nathan Trevett, Luke Gibson & all at St Albans for hosting us, and we would like to wish them all the best of luck for the coming season.

Unfortunately no game this weekend but there is one planned for the following weekend.
